DPhil Student, Interdisciplinary Bioscience DTP

I am a biologist with a background in biomechanics, molecular mechanisms of cell function, evolution, sensory systems, genetics, adaptation, cognition and animal behaviour, having completed a BA in Biological Sciences in the university of Oxford. I also have a background in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and hope to integrate knowledge from these disciplinces to tackle biological questions using an interdisciplinary approach.

Supported by

  • 2015-Present: DPhil. Interdisciplinary Bioscience DTP, University of Oxford
  • 2012-2015: BA(Hons) Biological Sciences, University of Oxford, First Class
  • 2011-2012: A-Levels (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics), Sunway University College, Malaysia. 4A*s

Past Research

  • Professor Fritz. Vollrath's Research Group, Oxford Silk Group, University of Oxford: Completed a 14-week project on the effects of different solvents on the mechanical properties of Nephila edulis Major and Minor ampullate silks. Conducted supercontraction tests on silk samples, stress-strain analysis on silk samples in different solvents using DMA techniques and SEM imaging, and silk extraction from spiders.

  • I am interested in studying systems biology and molecular biology, and integrating the knowledge gained with knowledge from other fields of science to solve specific world or industrial problems, or to generate new technologies using a synthetic biology approach. I have high affinity towards specific areas including Biomechanics, Biomimetics, Biomaterials and Flight Science.
As for non-academic interests, I have an affinity for music, sports, reading and exploration.
