About

My research interests have, to this point, been wide-reaching and interdisciplinary. After completing my degree in Philosophy I undertook my Epidemiology MSc thesis focussing on analysis of transcriptomics data for biomarker discovery. I hope that I will be able to integrate skills from this range of disciplines to tackle modern scientific problems as part of the DTP.

I am broadly interested in ecological systems and how changes in environment, habitat or other factors can impact biodiversity, speciation and untimately human activity. With a background in Epidemiology I am particularly interested in factors which can influence animal or human pathogens and vice versa. Ultimately, I would like to see how these observations can interact with policy and decsion making.

I am currently working on a 12-week project investigating within-vector virus dynamics using Semiliki Forest Virus and Aedes aegypti as a model system.
